The term "backpackers resort" accurately describes Bohemia Resort. There’s a nice pool with a large sundeck and patio surrounding, a bar and a lush tropical landscape… these are facilities and services typical of a resort. Rock bottom room prices, a large communal kitchen, and other features are more typical of a backpackers hostel, and are important for anyone traveling on a budget.
The owners live on site, and take care of many of the details that make this hostel a special place. The double, twin and dorm rooms are newly furnished, and fully outfitted by near to three star hotel standards. Each room has it’s own small balcony. The ensuite rooms have their own baths, and each floor has a couple of large shower/bath areas for those rooms that share facilities. The dorm rooms only have three or four beds, and no bunks, making for a much more quiet stay for dorm dwellers.
We like the location of the Bohemia. It is in residential neighborhood just off the main street leading into town from the airport, about a mile from the downtown area. The location and feeling is quiet and relaxed, and a short walk takes you to shops, cafes, and other amenities. A great Vietnamese take-away is next door. The Botanic Garden, several parks, and our favorite running trails on Mt. Whitfield are all within walking distance.
