The Trip

This full day trip follows the Tully River for five hours of Class IV white water rafting through lush tropical rainforests. Trained guides steer inflatable rafts with the help of participants (like you!) using oar power to help guide and power the raft down river. Each raft takes between five and eight people, and the number of rafts the company uses varies. (We’ve seen them use between eight and ten rafts each of the times we’ve gone.)

While some other rivers in the area are subject to very high or low water levels, a hydroelectric plant far upstream on the Tully regulates the water at consistent levels. Our head honcho has taken this trip several times. He always sees the same responses. People love the beautiful scenery, exciting adrenalin producing rapids, and good food and folks.

A large comfortable bus takes you South to the Tully River, and picks you up at or near your lodging. The minimum age for this trip is 13. Raging Thunder recommends that good health and a positive mental attitude are essential, although prior rafting experience is not necessary. Please leave any jewelry back in your room, it might end up decorating the bottom of the river!
