The Trip
This half-day trip will allow you to see and learn about the platypus, one of the more interesting and seldom seen Australian animals. This living fossil is one of the most primitive mammals alive and is one of two mammals that reproduce by laying eggs.
With beautiful tropical rainforests as your backdrop, you’ll be able to observe and photograph platypus, as well as see and hear other rainforest life. Tour Guide Alberto Vale has studied these animals for years and will take the time to explain the interesting and unique biology of these mammals.
Alberto is so confident that you will see platypus that he guarantees you will see one, and offers a 75% refund to any guest to whom he is unable to show a platypus.

The Company
Wildscapes Safaris is the dreamchild of two energetic and imaginative people, Alberto and June Vale. While June handles much of the behind-the-scenes administration, Alberto leads the wildlife tours.
Alberto is not just an expert on local wildlife. He is passionate about them, conducting scientific research on platypus ecology and serving as an active voice for the conservation of other local species. Alberto’s combined enthusiasm, passion, and knowledge make him the ideal wildlife guide. We especially like the fact that both of his tours involve small groups of 10 people or less, bringing everyone closer to the action.
It is no surprise that Wildscapes Safaris is conducted with the utmost environmental concern and has earned an advanced ecotourism accreditation for its environmental care. Wildscapes Safaris is a National Accredited Ecotourism Tour Operation certified by the Ecotourism Association of Australia since 1997 and Winner of '1999 Queensland Tourism Awards'.
