We are big fans of small group tours, and of the back country in the mountains behind Cairns. This one-day tour is combines both these factors into a great day trip.
This tour visits some of the more remote locations in the Atherton Tablelands west of Cairns. This area is has a great diversity, lush tropical rainforests, dry eucalyptus forests, grasslands, volcanic lakes, national parks, grazing country and farmland.
Despite it痴 amazing scenic value it does not get a lot of tourist visits, so the country feels much like it was a long time ago.
The group size is limited to just five people, so you値l get a very personalized and friendly tour.
Your guide Gary visits key wildlife hotspots, so you値l see a lot of the iconic wildlife found in the area. Wildlife is abundant out this way, and while we can稚 make any animal keep an appointment wildlife of all kinds is frequently spotted on this tour. You will visit Granite Gorge, where you値l get to hand feed rock wallabies, a small species of Kangaroo adapted to life amongst rocks, cliffs and boulders.
You値l also visit historic mining and forestry towns, cattle properties and a number of different national parks.
There will also be several chances to cool off and have a swim in one of volcanic lakes or bush swimming holes along the way, so bring a towel and a dry change of clothes.
This is a great day out, and is one of the few day tours in the area where you値l be in such a small group.
Please note that this trip has a 3-person minimum, solo or pair travelers need to be fle
