Cape Tribulation is one of the most interesting areas in the region, and this one-day trip gives those with only a little time to see this unique spot. Billy Tea has been leading day trips to this area longer than any other tour operator, and has evolved a no-rush leisurely style that takes in all the sights without seeming like every minute of the day is planned out.
We like the fact that the four-wheel-drive vehicle keeps the group size down to 13 or less.
The naturalist guide will meet you at your accommodation and after introductions all around will drive north along the scenic coastal route to Mossman. After reaching the Daintree River, there’s time for a spot of tea before taking a cruise on the River, a great chance to see and learn about the wildlife and crocs that inhabit the river and bordering mangrove forest
You'll then ascend the Alexandra range, pause for a panoramic view of the World Heritage Tropical Rainforest merging with the Coral Sea.
The pavement ends at Cape Tribulation National Park, and the four-wheel drive is necessary to follow the track onward into the forest. A delicious BBQ with home-made salads, tropical fruit and Australian wine is prepared while you take the opportunity to swim in a tranquil freshwater stream. You might see rainbow fish and turtles in the creek, butterflies and exotic birds in the trees and sometimes even large Goanna lizards on the forest floor.
On the way home there will a short afternoon refreshment stop where you can pat a Kangaroo, scratch a Cockatoo, have a cold beer or sip a cup of the local tea, then you will retrace your route homeward to your lodging.
