The Trip
Leave civilization behind you on this incredible adventure, a 19 km (12 mile) hike. This one-day expedition allows you to travel very light so you won't suffer under a heavy backpack. The terrain ranges from easy flat trails to undulating country. Group sizes are small, usually 2-6 persons.
Wooroonooran National Park is located in a valley between the two tallest mountains of Queensland, Mt.
Bartle Frere (1622m) and Mt. Bellenden Ker (1592m), and is a short drive south of Cairns. Aborigines used the trail for thousands of years, as did prospectors traveling to gold fields up in the country beyond the rainforest later on. While the National Park used the aboriginal name, the trail was named for the most recent users, not the first persons that walked the track.
This rainforest is unique and has been World Heritage listed. It contains refuge areas where some species of wildlife and plant life have existed unchanged for millions of years. You will experience spectacular scenery every step of the way. After lunch on some large rocks in the middle of the East Mulgrave River, you can swim in the crystal-clear freshwater swimming holes.
The marvelous rainforest locations visited are remote and your goup will have the place pretty much to yourselves. Frequently encountered animals include colorful parrots, butterflies, kingfishers, wild pigs and occasionally, the king of the rainforest, the Southern Cassowary.

Oliver is the ideal guide; he speaks a number of languages, and clearly loves the area, and sharing it with visitors.
