The Course
This outstanding course combines two days of pool and classroom instruction with a 3-day/2-night trip to the Great Barrier Reef, where you will make up to nine dives; four as a part of your course, and up to five more as a newly certified diver.
 This may include your first night dive, if conditions permit. Successful completion of the course earns you a PADI open water diver card.
The reef trips are aboard one of Pro-Dive Cairns three fine bookend liveaboard boats, the Scubapro and Scubapro II, the later of which was just brought into service in March 2002.
Pro Dive Cairns operates this class in both English and German, with instructional materials available in many other languages. Their tidy campus is located just outside of the downtown area, within walking distance of a variety of lodgings (Transfers to and from lodging anywhere in Cairns are included in the tuition.). The campus includes air conditioned classrooms, showers, changing areas, and ample pool space.

This course includes dives aboard Scubapro, a 75 foot Mono Hull with a maximum of 10 student divers. The dive trip included in the course is for 5 days, 2 nights, and allows 8 dives, plus 1 night dive.
The Boat
The Scubapro I, II, and III make a fine set of triplets! These identical boats are fast, comfortable purpose-built dive boats. Each has 14 twin and 2 double cabins, with 8 bathrooms with an overnight capacity of 32 divers. The boats are air conditioned throughout.
These boats are all new, having been built in '98 and '02 and '04. ProDive's maintenance of these boats has kept all three in great shape; you have to look at the name on the hull to tell them apart! They can cruise out to the reef at 13 knots, and make for a quick and stable dive platform.

About Pro Dive Cairns
Since it’s inception in 1983, Pro Dive Cairns has certified over 90.000 dive students, and taken heaps more than that out to the reef. It is a very popular choice for young professionals, both experienced and inexperienced divers.
Pro Dive Cairns is locally owned and managed company. Its directors, Rod Punshon and Quicksilver Connection, have owned and operated the company since 2005. Under their direction the company has grown into a quality full-service operation, offering day and liveaboard trips, a full range of dive instruction, from basic diver certification to instructor training, as well as a fully stocked dive shop.
