This trip is aboard Venus II, a 70 foot Mono Hull with a maximum of 13 divers and a Dive Staff of 3. It is for 4 days, 3 nights, and allows 8 dives, plus 2 night dives.
Departure Information
Departure is from Bundaberg Port Marina at 11:00 PM Tuesdays and Fridays, return time 4:30 PM.
The Dive
This three-day, three-night dive trip visits a part of the Great Barrier Reef called the Bunker Group; a group of reefs and sand islands at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef. This area is well off shore, out of the reach of any day dive boats, which means that this trip is the only regular trip that visits some very pristine dive sites.
Lady Musgrave Island is the best known of the the Bunker Group, which also includes Hoskan Island, Bolt Reef and Llewelyn Reef. Lady Musgrave Island is one of the most picturesque places on the Great Barrier Reef; a sandy tropical island, with a deep, calm and clear lagoon, all surrounded by a circle of coral reef formations. The great scenery does not end when you head under the water, as this area has a diversity of marine life, including all the colorful small reel life, divese corals, sea turtles, morays, and the big pelagic manta rays and sharks as well.

The Boat
The MV Venus II is a comfortable 22 metre (70 feet) cruiser powered by twin diesel engines, is wonderfully appointed for a truly enjoyable experience on the waters of the Southern Great Barrier Reef.
She is an older boat, but well kept. Her 80 tonne all-steel construction and recently fitted stabilizers provide a safe, enjoyable ride at a cruising speed of 10 knots- even in unfavourable sea conditions. With a huge fuel capacity, on-board fresh water maker, and all the latest navigation technology the boat has a range that far exceeds that of the three-day trips she currently makes.
Up to 13 guests sleep in four comfortable air-conditioned cabins, each with it's own shower/toilet. You will also enjoy the spacious lounge area, which is equipped with all the latest entertainment gear. The cabins can be configured as 3-share, 4-share, or double cabins. There is a covered deck for relaxing and gearing up for your dives. Access to the water is via the ladder-style steps at the stern of the boat.

About Dive Musgrave
The principal owner of this company is George Christinisen, who most consider the father of reef tourism in the area. George has been diving in the area since he was a teenager in the 40’s, and he offered the first dive trip in the sourthern section of the Great Barrier Reef. His business partners inlcude his son, and they have been operating this boat since 2001. Dive Musgrave operates the only live aboard boat operator in this section of the Great Barrier Reef which meansthe boat has exlclusive access to many of these sites.
