1-day Great Barrier Reef Trip Adrenalin Dive |
|
This trip is aboard Adrenalin, a 45 foot Mono Hull with a maximum of 18 divers and a Dive Staff of 2. It is for 1 day, and allows 2 dives.
Departure Information
Departure is from Quarterdeck Marina, Townsville at 8:00 AM Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, return time 5:30 PM.
The Dive
Wheeler Reef is rated as one of the premier dive sites in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. This reef has many shallow areas well suited to snorkelling and introductory diving, as well as deep bommies and swim throughs for the experienced diver.
Sites such as Student Bommie, with a maximum depth of 12m have a sandy bottom, excellent coral cover and a diverse array of marine life. More notably, Shark Alley is renowned for sightings of black tip & white tip reef sharks, grey reef whaler sharks, giant trevally and pygmy manta rays (Oct - Dec).
Wheeler Reef is an excellent location for diving with large schools of pelagic species, as well as macro species such as the ghost pipe fish.
On days where dive condtions do not warrant a vist to Wheeler Reef the boat will instead visit Lodestone Reef, another excellent outer reef location.
Scuba divers with less than 10 logged dives will be required to do guided dives on this dive trip.
The Boat
Adrenalin Dive is a 45-foot monohull, capable of taking up to 35 divers out to the Yongala wreck at a time. The boat is well-designed for it's purpose, capable of making a quick and stable trip under almost any seas. There is lots of enclosed deck space to keep you out of the wind, as well as a large dive deck, with both ample space for gearing up, and a stern-wide water level dive platform for easy entrys and exits.
