After the morning pickups of guests in Bowen, and Ayr, the day really starts with a quick 4WD trip down the beach to the boatís launch point. Once onboard you will on the wreck in just 30 minutes. The wreck is a world class dive site, and attracts amazing amounts of fish life. An open water certification and 6 logged dives with deep dive training is the minimum requirement for this dive Divers that have not done any deep diving are required to take the PADI Deep Dive course on their first morning dive. The Yongala is an intermediate dive site and it is recommended that divers should be comfortable in conditions which can sometimes be challenging.

Novice divers (those with less than 20 dives) should ensure they have refreshed their skills within the last six months and will be provided with a dive guide (if adventure or advanced certified) or required to upgrade to the PADI ĎDeepí Adventure dive (if open water) to advance their skills to the required level and to ensure a safe and memorable experience.

The more experienced divers can choose to dive with a buddy or take a guided tour at no extra cost. © Yongala Dive

About Yongala Dive

Yongala Dive is a small family owned and operated company, operating in the small fishing village of Alva Beach, located just outside of the town of Ayr. They have been in operation since 2003, and have focused on building the reputation (itís excellent!) of their business, as well as the infrastructure that increases the comfort and experience of their guests.

Their recently opened dive lodge in Alva Beach means that divers can come stay right onsite, enjoy a rural village, and have an easy day or days of diving with them. At a cost of AUD$25 for singles, AUD$60 for a couple, including breakfast and transfers from Ayr and Bowen it's a great deal, and very convenient.
