Half-day Great Barrier Reef trip

© Seastar Cruises

Book This Trip

This trip is aboard Skedaddle, a 18 foot Mono Hull with a maximum of 36 divers and a Dive Staff of 4. It is for 1 day.

Departure Information
Departure is from E Finger, Marlin Marina, Cairns, Cairns at 12:00 PM every day, return time 4:30 PM.

The Dive

If you've only got a half day to spend in Cairns and want to see the Great Barrier Reef at its best, then Skedaddle is the most affordable option available. All other half day trips either visit very near shore locations where the conditions are not as good, or use a helicopter, which greatly adds to the cost.

Skeddadle is a very fast boat, so it can get to the outer reef in less than an hour This boat is designed to cut through and over waves, and get through rough patches quickly, but with a jolt or two at times, so itís difinately not for anyone with a medical condition (such as back problems or recent surgery that might be aggravated. © Seastar Cruises Kids under 1.3m (4í3") tall wonít fit into the specially designed seats.

We like the fact that this boat offers an hour long snorkel tour, included in the trip price, and thereís nothing better than having that much time with a qualified guide who knows where all the cool marine life can be found, and can tell you about it.

The Boat

Skeddale is a superfast jet boat, designed specifically to make quick and comfortable trips out to the reef. The trip takes around an hour, and once clear of the channel that leads out from Cairns this boat can rip along at a cruising speed of 35 knots.

If you want a smooth ride, sit at the back of the boat, the front is for those seeking the exciting rides, but either way the boat has very comfortable seating. The boat is 18m (59ft) long.

The boat is not air conditioned and does noft have large open deck spaces, but that's because it's built for speed, so that it can make a quick comfortable half-day trip to the outer barrier reef possible and affordable.
