Book This Trip

This trip is aboard Diversity, a 69 foot Catamaran with a maximum of 12 divers and a Dive Staff of 5. It is for 3 days, 2 nights, and allows 7 dives, plus 2 night dives.

Departure Information
Departure is from Marlin Marina, Cairns at 8:15 AM Wednesdays, return time 9:30 AM.

The Dive

The Ribbon Reefs and Cod Hole are great dive locations, and out of the reach of the day dive boats. This particular dive trip is one of the best ways you can dive the area, especially if you have limited time. The trip takes two full days and the morning of a third. © Quicksilver Dive Most other dive trips to the Ribbon Reefs take at least a full day longer. All told you’ll make 9 dives, including 2 night dives, on this trip.

The speed of the Diversity, combined with the departure from Port Douglas, means you will be diving on the Ribbon Reefs on your first day out. An added advantage is that you spend fewer hours travelling on the boat, and more in the water. The boat's speed also enables them to choose from a wider variety of dive sites as they strive to provide you the best diving each day.

We like the small group and high staff levels of this trip. There are just 12 passengers on the trip, assisted by 5 Quicksilver crew members. The staff includes a marine biologiist, who is able to help you understand what you see. We cannot think of another trip with such a high staff to diver ratio. Quicksilver pays attention to the details, you can expect to be well-cared for while on board. © Quicksilver Dive

The Boat

The Diversity is Quicksilver Dive’s newest boat, and was custom-designed as a liveaboard dive boat for small groups, and as such is perfectly suited for these trips. Launched in 2002, this 69-foot boat is the fastest liveaboard boat operating in the area, up to twice that of other dive boats. This becomes important on the long runs to distant dive sites, as the time you spend at sea is reduced, and the time you spend at calm anchorages is increased.

There are just six cabins, in both twin and double configurations, each with their own wash basin and ocean views. The two premium cabins each have their own bathrooms; the remaining cabins share two other baths. The twin hull design creates lots of deck space, for the galley, salon, dive deck and sun deck. All enclosed spaces on board are air-conditioned. The boat carries a tender to get you right up on the best dive locations.
