One-Day Great Barrier Reef Trip Haba Dive |
|
This trip is aboard Evolution, a 74 foot Catamaran with a maximum of 48 divers. It is for 1 day, and allows 3 dives.
Departure Information
Departure is from Marina Mirage, Port Douglas at 8:30 AM every day, return time 4:00 PM.
The Dive
A day with Haba Dive is an easy and enjoyable day. The company prides itself in including everything in your trip fee, and not having surprise extra costs, your trip fee includes everything you need to have a great day; your only need for cash might be some money for a souvenir or a beer on the way home.
Haba Dive gets a mixed group of reef visitors, and has the gear and staff to take care of divers, and snorkellers alike.
The boat will stop at two dive locations, selecting from their collection of moorings to get the best diving and snorkeling available that day.
For the divers there is a high speed tender to get them to the best dive sites, and assist with drift dives and other dive activities. All dives include a guide at no extra charge, and no time limits are set on your diving.
Snorkelers are provided with all the gear, snorkeling instruction, even a reef ecology talk and guided snorkeling tour. First timer snorkelers s will appreciate the comfortable flotation assistance devices that keep you on top of the water, and the guided snorkel tour. Adventurous snorkelers seeking the experience of a scuba dive can opt for taking one or two introductory dives, a highly supervised guided scuba dive.
A bountiful supply of food and drink, including morning and afternoon tea and snacks, and a tropical buffet lunch will send everyone home with their appetite for adventure and good food both satisfied.
The Boat
Launched into service in August of 2006, Evolution truly is the peak of the reef boat design. This 74-foot wavepiercing catamaran is both extremely stable and quick, with a 32 knot top speed making it the quickest trip out to the reef. While taking fairly small groups of up to 80 divers and snorkelers out to the reef, the boat has features normally found only in much larger operations. An large onboard theatre provides a great orientation to what you are about to see on the reef, and a built in glass observation feature allows you a first look at the reef before you get in the water!

About Haba Dive

The company has been owned and operated by Port Douglas locals Bruce Funch and Josann Reynolds since 1998, and they have continued the Haba tradition of high levels of service and professionals. You can usually find one or both of them in the Haba Dive office or scurrying around town taking care of the behind the scene details.
We have always been impressed by the high standards of the dive operators in Port Douglas, and Haba Dive is one of the many fine dive operations in the area.
