One-Day Island Sailing Trip aboard Wavedancer Quicksilver Dive |
|
This trip is aboard Wavedancer, a 109 foot Catamaran with a maximum of 150 divers. It is for 1 day.
Departure Information
Departure is from Marina Mirage, Port Douglas at 10:00 AM every day, return time 4:00 PM.
The Dive
Technically not a dive trip, this outing is ideal for those interested in having a comfortable, casual day sailing and relaxing on a small island. The boat visits the Low Isles, a set of coral cays located inside the Great Barrier Reef, about a 60-minute sail from Port Douglas.
Coral reefs border the isle. Due to the proximity of the shore and the reduced visibility here, the snorkeling is not as superb as on the reef itself. Keen divers should look for a trip that will take them further from shore and visits the actual reef.
Snorkeling is available here, and there’s a lot of time to observe reef life in the glass-bottomed boat, try an introductory scuba dive, take a guided walk along the island, enjoy a smorgasbord lunch, or relax under an umbrella on the beach.
The Boat
A luxury 98-foot sailing catamaran, the Wavedancer was built in 1996 and is outfitted to be an efficient and very comfortable sailing vessel. The catamaran design makes for a smooth and stable ride, with both air-conditioned comfort in the passenger compartment and ample open-air deck space.
