Departure Information
Departure is from Marlin Marina, E Finger, Cairns at 8:15 AM every day, return time 4:30 PM.
The Dive
This trip is truly a good value, and has several features that set it apart from other one-day trips operating out of Cairns.
One of the dive sites visited is Michaelmas Cay, a coral sand island, less experienced folks can snorkel in the protected sandy beach areas, while more experienced divers and snorkellers can enjoy the coral reefs that lie just a little further offshore. There are also some great diving sites here!
Michaelmas Cay is also a nesting rookery for thousands of birds during their breeding season, and year-round this is a great birdwatching site.Those interested are able to go ashore and view the birds.
The other reef visited is Hastings Reef, an equally interesting dive site. With the passenger limit held at 40 passengers, this one of the most personal of the day trips that departs from Cairns..
The Boat
The Seastar was launched in August 2007. This beautiful new boat is 80 ft long, and makes the trip out to Seastar's dive sites in under an hour. The boat is fast and stable, wth lots of shaded and air-conditioned cabin space. We like the fact that the owners limit the numbers on board to just 40 persons, well under the capacity of the boat; that means there is heaps of space on board, and provides a great small group experience.

About Seastar
