One-day Great Barrier Reef sail/dive trip
Reef Daytripper

© Reef Daytripper

This trip is aboard Reef Daytripper, a 42 foot Catamaran with a maximum of 20 divers and a Dive Staff of 2. It is for 1 day, and allows 2 dives.

Departure Information
Departure is from D Finger, Marlin Marina, Cairns at 8:00 AM every day, return time 5:00 PM.

The Dive

This reef trip has a smaller group size (just 20 max.) than any other reef trip in the region, so if you are looking for a more personal and friendly day on the reef this might just be the perfect trip for you.

Reef Daytripper visits two different moorings an Upolu Reef, and both are very good dive and snorkelling sites. © Daytripper

Sailing out to Upolu Reef is an easy run, and takes around 2 hours. Lots of guests join in and help sail the boat, but that’s not required; the only thing you have to do is enjoy yourself.

After reaching Upolu Reef you will have four hours to enjoy the area. There’s plenty of time for snorkeling, and divers will be able to make two scuba dives. Snorkelers also have the option of making an intro scuba dive during the day.

Lunch is a splendid tropical buffet; no one will go home hungry on this trip, except for the urge to take another trip out to the reef! The afternoon affords more snorkelling, diving and relaxing, then it’s time to sail home and enjoy a glass of wine on the way back to port.

The Boat

Reef Daytripper is a medium-sized sailing catamaran, ideally equipped for simple and fun day out on the reef. The boat is 13-metres (42-feet) long, and has lots of open and shaded deck space, more than ample for the 20 guests she can take out to the reef. The boat is also equipped with a toilet and shower, and a complete inventory of dive and snorkeling gear.
