One-Day Great Barrier Reef Trip Cairns Dive Centre |
|
This trip is aboard Reefkist, a 60 foot Catamaran with a maximum of 20 divers. It is for 1 day, and allows 2 dives.
Departure Information
Departure is from E Finger, Marlin Marina, Cairns at 8:15 AM every day, return time 4:30 PM.
The Dive
On this trip you’ll visit two of the outer reefs and dive once at each site.
The skipper will choose between Milln, Briggs, Thetford, or Moore reefs, based on the weather, tides, and other factors that may affect dive conditions. Many dive boats do not visit the latter two reefs, so you should have them to yourselves when you dive there.
The Boat
Cairns Dive Centre is proud of their new boat, Reefkist. This 18-metre (60-foot) power cat makes for a stable and quick trip out to the reef. There's plenty of space on board the boat, either in the shaded or sun deck areas, or inside in the air-conditioned cabin area. While licencesed to hold up to 80 persons, Cairns Dive Centre has limited their boat to just 40 to give more plenty of space. Exits and entrances from the water are easy from the water level dive deck at the stern.

This locally owned company is also one of the largest dive schools in Cairns, and trained over 6.500 divers last year. Cairns Dive Center is an SSI Career Development Center, and as such has trained many of the dive masters and instructors working in the area.
We’ve found the staff at the Cairns Dive Centre to be both helpful and knowledgeable. We have had many clients dive and train with CDC, and they have found the staff to be friend.y, upbeat, helpful and professional, and the operation to be very well run.
