Book This Trip

This trip is aboard Evolution, a 120 foot Mono Hull. It is for 4 days (note: return to town overnight), and allows 4 dives.

Departure Information
Departure is from Marlin Jetty, Cairns at 8:30 AM Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, return time 5:00 PM.

The Dive

This course combines two days of pool and classroom instruction with two 1-day trips to the Great Barrier Reef, where you will make your four ocean training dives. Completion of the course earns you a PADI open water diver card.

The reef trips are aboard the Evolution, a large, fast, stable, and very comfortable boat. © Joel Groberg Joining you onboard will be a number of other reef visitors; both certified divers and snorkelers.

Down Under Dive teaches their classes in English, with printed instructional materials available in many other languages. Their campus is located just outside of the downtown area, within walking distance of a variety of lodgings (transfers to and from lodging anywhere in Cairns are included in the tuition.). The large and modern campus includes air-conditioned classrooms, showers, changing areas, and large training pool.

The Boat

Launched in 2016, Evolution is one of the new, fast, stable and comfortable boats operating in the Cairns reef fleet.

This boat holds up to 130 guests, and has all the new stablity features that make for the fastest, smoothest trip to the reef possible.

We like the variety of spaces where you can hang out; there are large air-conditioned lounges, shaded decks and sun decks. The dive deck is well organized, and has a number of large water level platforms to make for fast easy and uncrowded exits and entrances to the water.
