Book This Trip
This trip is aboard OceanQuest, a 117 foot Catamaran with a maximum of 10 divers and a Dive Staff of 1. It is for 4 days, 1 night.
Departure is from your lodging (free pickup), Cairns at 8:30 AM Thursdays, return time 4:30 PM.
The PADI Rescue Diver course is a crucial step in your diving education and is highly recommended to all divers. It's a transitional stage in your diving education where you move beyond just diving for fun by expanding your knowledge of some of the more technical aspects of diving as well as learning rescue and emergency skills.
To start this or any PADI rescue diver course you need to already have your PADI open water and PADI advanced certification.
The first day of this course you will be reading your manuals and completing your knowledge reviews at Deep Sea Divers Denís campus. You will also be completing a required first aid course. Like all PADI rescue courses there are pool sessions to learn and practice rescue scenarios before completing them in the open water.
The last two days of the course you will be on a 2-day/1-night dive trip. During this trip you will make 6 dives, including 1 night dive.
At least three of your seven dives are course dives, where you will be practicing rescue skills learned during the course. The remaining dives are pleasure dives, but you can expect parts of several of these dives to be devoted to additional skills practice.

OceanQuest is an extremely comfortable liveaboard. Sheís twin-hulled catarmaran, with three decks, giving everyone lots of space, both in the cabins and in common areas, such as the lounge, dining area, dive deck and sun decks.
The boat's just been through a major refitting, so everything is nice and shiny and new. The cabins are both spacious and comfortably outfitted. Each cabin has a private bathroom/shower, TV, bar fridges, even an internal phone system!
There are a mix of double, twin, and four-share cabins to suit any personís needs, and the boat can sleep up to 48 divers and snorkelers in comfort. At 35 metres (117 ft) in length, the boat makes for a very stable and comfortable nightís sleep.

About Deep Sea Divers Den
Deep Sea Divers Den is one of the oldest, largest, and most experienced dive operations in Cairns. Their dive school is one of the two largest such operations in the world, and this year marks the debut of their newly refurbished facilities, and a new dive boat, the ReefQuest II. Besides running the full range of certification courses in four languages, they also operate three dive boats on a daily basis.
The Divers Den has been in operation since 1975, and the size of their operation allows them to do much of their staff training, boat, and equipment maintenance in house. Someone walked into our office recently who was certified and dove with DSDD in 1982, and while you might barely remember what you were doing in '82, Susan has fond and vivid memories of her dive experience.
