Considering Dive and Travel Insurance?
Here are some valuable tips and suggestions
In the course of booking our many clients we are constantly asked questions about travel and dive insurance. Most of the questions center on two main topics:
How do I best cover myself any problems I incur while diving or snorkeling?
My travel plans are costly and my interary is tight, how can I cover myself for missing my dive trip?
After struggling with trying to find insurance for these two issues we finally have found a company that focuses on covering the overall insurance needs of short term adventure travelers.
World Nomads specializes in insuring your kind of travel, and rather than arrange dive, medical, cancellation, and other travel related insurance the offer a one stop shop, a package that covers all of these concerns.
Their package includes Medical, Dental, Emergency Medical Evacuation, Travel Accident, Baggage loss, Sporting Equipment theft, and Trip Cancellation. Their coverage does include scuba diving (by certified divers or properly supervised dive students or introductory scuba divers), snorkeling., and includes any necessary decompression treatment, and has no depth limit.
Their trip cancellation insurance coverage includes coverage for losses due to:
-Illness, injury or death of you, a covered family member or traveling companion.
-Strikes, natural disasters or bad weather that result in the complete cessation of services by an airline, tour operator or cruise line for at least 24 hours.
-Employer termination if you have been with the same employer for at least three continuous years, and are terminated through no fault of your own after the effective date of this insurance.
- You or a Traveling Companion being directly involved in a traffic Accident while directly en route to a departure
World Nomads tailors their insurance to the length of your trip, and your country of origin. They provide the coverage by partnering with a international set of insurance companies to develop these coverage packages.
What’s more, purchasing a policy is easy through their simple and easy to use website, which also has all the details of each policy easily accessible online.
What definitely won’t be covered are acts of foolishness, and any problems caused by short delays to a tightly packed travel itinerary. We have yet to find affordable insurance that covers those kinds of problems. Your wise planning, cool head and common sense are the best insurance against those problems.

If you are more interested in purchasing coverage for just your diving adventures, we recommend you have a look at Divers Alert Network and Dive Assure.
