Diving with your family on the Great Barrier Reef.
Diving is more and more becoming a family activity, and we increasingly find ourselves helping families arrange dive course and trips. Cairns is an ideal place for families, as competition between dive schools and dive boats keeps prices affordable, and gives many choices for courses and trips.
The extensive experience that local dive companies have with learning and newly certified divers also makes for family friendly operations. In addition, there are all sorts of other family friendly activities in the region, many of them equally as memorable as heading out to the reef itself.
We recently received this short report and photos from the Hisko family, who spent their holiday in Cairns enjoying their first ocean live aboard dive trip ever:
"In one word the experience was "awesome". Everyone was so friendly and willing to assist us in any way they could. Upon our arrival we were a little nervous, as we were out in the Pacific Ocean for our first dive after our certification. However, we quickly knew we were in good hands after we made our first dive, as our dive master Andrew’s knowledgeable and confident dive preview had prepared us on what to expect."
"Mark, the dive master for the majority of our trip, was incredible.
He appeared to go out of his way to make sure we had a great time. I am sure the tour of the skipper's control cabin was above and beyond what he normally does for passengers; my 12- and 13-year olds loved it."
"This was definitely an experience that we will never forget - and it was the highlight of our trip to Australia. It is wonderful that the kids and I will have these memories to cherish for years and years to come."
The Hisko’s had taken Cairns Dive Centre’s live aboard trip to the reef, one of our favorites, based on the feedback we get from our clients, and because it’s of the lowest-priced live aboard trips in the area.
